Feature Follow Friday: Change the Plot

Feature Follow Friday is a blog hop hosted by Parajunkee & Alison Can Read. It's a way for bloggers and readers alike to make some new friends and gain some new followers as well. The point of this hop is to follow other bloggers. I follow you, you follow me.

Also, this week's featured bloggers are Gizzimomo's Book Shelf and Tash Brilliant Book Blog, so make sure you check them out too.

While I do prefer GFC follows, if you would like to follow me via bloglovin/email/twitter etc, that's great too! Also, please leave a comment so I can follow you back!

Question of the week: Change the plot

If you could, what book would you change the ending or a plot thread? Go ahead and do it... change it.
For this, I would have to pick Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins. I loved The Hunger Games and then, Catching Fire just took it up one more notch. So I had really high expectations for what Collins would do with Mockingjay. And I was left bitterly disappointed.

[Warning: potential spoilers ahead]

For starters, the whole book just felt so defeated. Katniss did pretty much nothing but mope around in District Thirteen and occasionally go out to be their poster girl. Then, in the end, the whole ending just felt rushed and I couldn't help but come away with the feeling that there was minimal change to Panem. I didn't necessarily need a happy ending yet at the same time, I wanted to know that the whole saga, all the sacrifices, all the war came to mean something. But I didn't get that feeling so I felt disappointed.

Let me know if you agree or disagree with my pick. Also, which book did you pick to change the plot? Leave a comment/link below and I'll be sure to check it out!

    1. Thanks for dropping by, Twinspin :) Like your pick too, I still have mixed feelings about that ending...

  3. I totally agree! I am really disappointed that Katniss is a mere poster girl in this book. And not to mention at the end where, she kinda fainted (I forgot) and then Snow had died and everything. I mean, Snow is the main villain and the sole purpose of the trilogy, and now the heroine doesn't even witness it? and not to mention the deaths. ergh.

Happy FF! New GFC follower! My FF

  4. I completely agree and as you will notice in my post, I had two books I would change. Mockingjay was the other one. I was not a huge fan of Peeta throughout the story and had wanted her to be with Gale. Truly, once I got about 2/3 of the way through the book, I would have changed a lot of things.

  5. I agree with you about Panem. The end of the book (and it's been awhile since I've read it so my memory could be off some) seems like it ends with fighting still going on. Isn't Gale still mentioned as fighting? So yeah, there isn't any real resolution over the problems that exist for the districts. Great pick!

    1. Yup, didn't really like the ending. Not sure if there's still fighting (it's been a long time for me too) but yes, there didn't feel like there was any resolution... :(

Haha, Feli, Laura & you all picked the same book. Agreement x 3 :D I haven't read Dear John yet so I can't comment on that one.

  7. I really wanted Mockingjay to be two separate books, she just rushed through everything

    1. I agree, perhaps with two books, she can actually get through everything without just rushing towards the end. :(

  8. New follower on GFC and Bloglovin'. Mockingjay was really hard for me to get through. Not a great conclusion at all unfortunately. :(

I agree I didn't like the ending to Mockingjay at all. It felt like all that war and sacrifice was for nothing.

    1. Thanks :) I agree with your reason for picking the book you did too - though I haven't read it. I hate open-ending books!

  10. I agree. I was waiting for Katniss to do something and by the time something happened, everything was rushed and then it ended.

    1. Thanks for dropping by :) I felt it didn't really achieve anything and Panem really hadn't changed by the end, which is disappointing.

  12. I agree. By the end of the book the characters felt out of...character. like their lives and choices didn't suit them. It was disappointing.
