Top Ten Favourite Fictional Couples

TTT is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

This week's topic is a freebie - which means everyone gets to choose from the previous topics. For this week, I decided to go with my top ten favourite fictional couples because I just have so many!

[Warning in advance] If you haven't read the books these couples are from, then you may accidentally get spoiled by this list of couples. So if you haven't read The Archived duology, A Thousand Pieces of You, Attachments, Ruby Red trilogy, The Night Circus, The Lunar Chronicles, Daughter of Smoker & Bone, Legend trilogy, Pivot Point duology and the Darkest Mind trilogy, then proceed at your own risk. I have warned you.

Anyhow, warnings aside, here are my top ten favourite fictional couples listed in no particular order.

Cress & Captain Thorne (The Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer)

My face was in a perpetual grin as I was reading Cress from the Lunar Chronicles. They are just so funny together. I found Cress' naivety towards the outside world sweet. And despite the high level of entertainment, you could tell that Thorne does care for Cress. I can't wait to see more of them in Winter.

Karou & Akiva (Daughter of Smoke and Bone trilogy by Laini Taylor)

This novel has an excellent romance set-up. I didn't see the plot twist at all until it came right up to me and smacked me in the face. I was absolutely blown away and just needed more.

June & Day (Legend trilogy by Marie Lu)

Every time I think back to June and Day, a little bit of me still breaks at the thought of everything this pair went through. I liked the ending but I still very much would have liked to have seen more of what happened afterwards.

Wesley & Mac (The Archived series by Victoria Schwab)

I absolutely adore Wesley and Mac. The interactions between the two are funny and relatable. I also appreciated how the relationship was built up over the two books. There must be a third book! I need that third book!

Lincoln & Beth (Attachments by Rainbow Rowell)

I love every book written by Rainbow Rowell but this one is my ultimate favourite. The situation is so quirky I don't know how  to explain it without giving the whole plot away. Let's just leave it at the fact that this is an awesome book and everyone should read it.

Gwen & Gideon (Ruby Red trilogy by Kerstin Gier)

Fast-paced fantasy with time travel thrown in. Yet somehow, Kerstin Gier manages to squeeze some romance into this series as well. The constant alternation between fighting and liking each other was fun and I was a little bit disappointed when the trilogy ended because I wanted more!

Celia & Marco (The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern)

This book has a dream-like feeling to it and the feelings between Celia and Marco followed that path. It's a slow build-up but I enjoyed it more because of its elaborate set-up.

Maguerite & Paul (A Thousand Pieces of You by Claudia Gray)

When I read the story premise, I didn't think I would end up liking this pairing but wow, Claudia Gray convinced me otherwise. There was a bit of an instant love feeling towards the whole thing but I kind of ignored it because I was enjoying the novel too much.

Addie & Trevor (Pivot Point duology by Kasie West)

Pivot Point tore me down into shreds at the fat of this couple and then Split Second restored it all plus more. Addie and Trevor are both just so nice and sweet, they totally deserve each other. I like the series as a duology but if Kasie West wants to write a third book, I'm not going to complain.

Ruby & Liam (The Darkest Mind trilogy by Alexandra Bracken)

This couple broke my heart at the end of the first book. The way they described how they would have met in an alternative setting had everything not gone down the drain the way they did - that made me cry.

So there you go, those are my top ten favourite fictional couples. Sorry I couldn't elaborate on how much I loved about each of them because I fear I would end up spoiling a lot of you guys. But I couldn't help but do a little bit of spoiling to convince you guys why I loved them so much. The end result is a sad in-between, I think.

Which topic did you guys do this week?

  7. What is it about Celia & Marco's story that is so mesmerizing? I read the book two years ago and I listened to it last year. I can't wait to find time to read/listen to the book again.
