Top Ten Series I have yet to finish/catch-up on

TTT is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

Technically, this week's topic is top ten completed series that I have yet to finish. However, I have difficulty with that list because of my reading habits. Firstly, I generally don't like to start a series until most of the books have been released. (There are exceptions to this rule including those written by my auto-buy authors but that's a story for another day) Secondly, I tend read sequels immediately. Thirdly, every time I pause in a series marathon and grab something else off of my shelf, I make a decision as to whether or not this series will be one I'm completing.

So as a result, I don't actually have a lot of completed series that I have yet to finish. So I've decided to expand this topic to series that I have yet to finish/catch-up on. Below is a list of ten such series (in no particular order).

The Summer Trilogy by Jenny Han

I've read the first book The Summer I Turned Pretty way back in January and I've always meant to go back and finish the series. But it's winter now in Melbourne and I really don't feel like a summer read at the moment. But this completed series is definitely one I'm looking forward to.

The Arkwell Academy trilogy by Mindee Arnett

I read the first two volumes The Nightmare Affair and The Nightmare Dilemma back-to-back and loved it. When I started this trilogy, I thought it was already completed and was left really disappointed when I found out I had to wait for the third volume. But now The Nightmare Charade is released so I am hoping to finish this trilogy soon.

A Series of Unfortunate Events series by Lemony Snicket

I think I've read at least the first 9 volumes of this 13 book saga back in high school. I've always been meaning to revisit this series and finish it. I just need to find the time!

Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead

Another series I started back in high school but never completed. It's been so long that I think I will have to go back and start from the beginning again.

Throne of Glass series by Sarah J. Maas (ongoing)

Everyone's been raving about Queen of Shadows, which was just released, and I'm doing my best to avoid all spoiler! I'm only up to book number two, Crown of Midnight, so I've got a lot of catch up to do - including The Assassin's Blade novella anthology.

Red Rising trilogy by Pierce Brown (ongoing)

I read Red Rising around the time Golden Sun was released. However, due to other book commitments at the time, I have yet to start on Golden Son. I'm slightly tempted to wait until Morning Star is released so I can marathon the trilogy. But knowing me, I probably wouldn't wait until 2016 to read Golden Son.

The Grisha trilogy by Leigh Bardugo

So I'm kind of cheating by putting this trilogy on the list when it's one I haven't yet started. But it's been sitting on my TBR shelf for so long that I feel like I need to tackle this series soon.

The Mediator series by Meg Cabot (ongoing)

I only just found out recently that the Mediator series is still ongoing. I thought I had read all of them back in high school. Oh well, I guess it's a good time to revisit this series and start from the beginning again.

Newsoul trilogy by Jodi Meadows

Another trilogy I haven't yet started. Not sure what I'll think of it but it's a completed series so one of these days, I hope to marathon this trilogy!

Starbound trilogy by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner (ongoing)

The finale book, Their Fractured Light, is coming out in December this year. So even if you start now, you don't have that long to wait before the series is complete.

So there you go, those are the ten series that I need to progress on. Of course, this is on top of all the series that I have caught up and am desperately waiting for the next book to come out. Which series did you guys pick this week?

  1. Nice! Vampire Academy is the series that brought me back to YA, so that one I followed and read each one as they released! After binging the first 3, and that wait for Blood Promise was torture!!

    Here's my Tuesday Post

    Have a GREAT day!

  2. A Series of Unfortunate Events made my list this week too. I read several like you, but then got stuck and didn't finish. Maybe one day! Thanks for sharing!

  4. I still need to read The Assassin's Blade, despite being caught up with the other books. I'm thinking of giving the Grisha Trilogy another go, it's been a long time since I picked up the first book so I don't remember too much. Great list!

  5. Hi! I think I need to add the Summer series to my TBR. I tried one Jenny Han book and I wasn't blown away. But it could've just been me. The old "it's me not you" line. :) Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  7. I don't like starting a series until most (or all) of the books are out either! I learned that lesson this year when I jumped into a bunch of series all willy-nilly and am now stuck in the middle of seven of them lol. I've never read any on your list, but I want to read the Vampire Academy books because I'm a vampire fan and they're so popular that I feel like I should find out what the fuss is about. Here's my TTT!
